Why It Stands Out
The Honda Acty is one of the most well-balanced Kei trucks ever built—reliable, versatile, and engineered with Honda’s trademark simplicity. Whether used for farming, delivery work, or as a fun project truck, the Acty continues to be a top choice for import enthusiasts in the U.S.

Honda Acty

The Honda Acty has been Honda’s answer to Japan’s Kei truck needs since 1977, designed around practicality, efficiency, and Honda’s reputation for reliability. The name “Acty” comes from “Activity,” reflecting its purpose as a do-it-all workhorse.

  • Engine & Drivetrain: Powered by Honda’s E-series engines (eventually the E07A/E07Z 660cc), the Acty has always delivered strong efficiency and dependable performance. Most models are mid-engine, rear-wheel drive, giving excellent balance. Honda also offered RealTime 4WD versions with locking differentials for rough terrain.

  • Transmission Options: 4-speed, 5-speed, and later models with automatic options. Some trims included ultra-low first gear (“EL” gear) for heavy hauling or steep inclines.

  • Body Styles: Flatbed pickup, van, and Honda Street (microbus version). The compact size makes it perfect for farms, cities, or job sites where a full-size truck won’t fit.

  • Performance: Kei class rules capped the Acty at 64 horsepower, but its mid-engine layout gave it nimble handling and great weight distribution. Known for being tough and reliable, these trucks often see 200,000+ km without major issues if maintained.

  • Unique Features:

    • Mid-engine design keeps the cargo bed flat and low.

    • Excellent visibility and turning radius for tight roads.

    • Many models came with air conditioning, radio upgrades, and even power steering in later years.

    • Strong aftermarket support for tires, suspension lifts, and accessories.
